Jianbin Chen, Ph.D., Director of Informatics
The director of our informatics group, Dr. Chen oversees
the design, implementation and management of our health
informatics data center. His depth of expertise in resourcefully
applying cutting-edge information technology is the backbone
of our analytical operations.
An applied mathematician and software developer, Dr. Chen
is at the forefront in developing applications applying
highly specialized algorithms to complex analysis. He
is an innovator of applications using Artificial Neural
Networks and Genetic Algorithms. Dr. Chen has consulted
on the application of this technology with industrial
and commercial concerns in the insurance, pharmaceutical,
and health care fields.
Prior to joining Praxis, Dr. Chen was a scientist with
the NYS Research Foundation where he was credited for
creating the "Variance Heterogeneity Modeling" techniques
for the predictive modeling of mental health care services
utilization. He played an important role for the NYS Department
of Health regarding forecast models for cardiac inpatient
admissions and it's economic implications for the allocation
of state and federal resources.
Dr. Chen received both a Masters degree in Computer Science
and a Doctorate in Applied Statistics from the State University
of New York at Albany.
