Dr. Burton Pomerantz, CEO
Dr. Burton Pomerantz is a founder and CEO of Praxis Health Management.
He brings over 43 years of experience in health care to the company.
He has spent over 31 years managing hospitals and clinics, designing
innovative health services, and developing and managing health
plans. Dr. Pomerantz is a pioneer in the field of health care
management, with his expertise coming from both the medical and
the business sides of the health care industry. He has experienced
the marketplace from the perspective of payors, providers, patients,
and employers. The field information gained from each perspective
has allowed him to create viable new vehicles for the delivery
of quality health care service. His systems have included financial
strategies for the long and short-term.
Most recently, Dr. Pomerantz served as a managed care and medical
business consultant as well as having served on the board of
directors for a number of health care companies. Among them,
he served as Medical Director for businesses such as Clickpharmacy,
an on-line Pharmacy consumer service company. He has also held
positions as the Chief Medical Officer for Emerald Health Network
in Cleveland, OH; Medical Director of the Cleveland Clinic Florida
Healthplan in Fort Lauderdale, FL; President and COO of Patient
Care of America in Miami, FL, and Medical Director of Av-Med
Health Plan in Miami, FL.
Dr. Pomerantz, who has continued to practice medicine throughout
his distinguished career, has served on the boards of several
healthcare industry companies and is a Diplomate of the American
Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians.
Dr. Pomerantz holds a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Bachelor
of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
